100 Years of Duro Dakovic Montaza: A Jubilee Year Filled with Activities

Duro Dakovic Montaza has officially commenced the celebration of its 100th anniversary with an event organised for employees and retirees, thereby inaugurating a year-long programme of activities dedicated to this significant milestone.

The opening event brought together nearly one thousand current and former employees. A highlight of the celebration was a millennium photograph directed by Šime Strikoman. In addition, an exhibition of analogue photography titled “Two Times: Then and Now”, curated by company employees, was inaugurated. The exhibition presents a visual dialogue between past and present, underscoring the continuity of operations and the company’s industrial heritage.

A Stable and Competitive International Operator

On the occasion of the anniversary launch, Chairman of the Management Board, Anto Pivac, emphasised the company’s strong market position and operational stability:

“Đuro Đaković Montaža currently employs more than 900 professionals, executes projects in approximately fifteen countries annually, and participates in nearly 100 projects. Our core markets are in Western Europe, with a primary focus on the energy sector. This centenary represents not only a confirmation of our achievements, but also a commitment to further development in line with emerging challenges and opportunities.”

Strategic Growth and International Expansion

President of the General Assembly, Drago Cugura, highlighted key strategic milestones, including early international expansion and the establishment of a subsidiary in Germany in the 1960s. He also noted the 30th anniversary of Duro Dakovic Euromontaza in Slovenia, as well as the company’s continued focus on projects in green energy and sustainable solutions.

“From its earliest stages, the company recognised the importance of internationalisation, which enabled the successful delivery of complex projects across Western European markets. Montaza has consistently demonstrated a forward-looking approach—identifying opportunities and driving growth. Our responsibility is to preserve this legacy while ensuring its continued advancement.”

Governance, Expertise, and Long-Term Sustainability

Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Darko Katic, underlined the importance of sound governance, responsible decision-making, and continuous investment in human capital:

“A century of operations reflects disciplined management and the ongoing development of organisational, professional, and governance capacities. While the company is built on solid foundations, it operates in a dynamic environment that demands adaptability. The experience accumulated over decades remains a critical asset in addressing future challenges.”

A Year Focused on Stakeholders and Future Development

The centennial programme will continue throughout 2026, encompassing a range of initiatives aimed at employees, business partners, the academic community, and the general public. Planned activities include professional events, community engagement projects, partner-focused events, an exhibition at the Brod Posavlje Museum, and the publication of a company monograph as the concluding milestone of the anniversary year.

Company Background
Đuro Đaković Montaža traces its origins to 1926, when an independent workshop for bridge construction and steel structures—operating within the First Yugoslav Factory of Wagons, Machines and Bridges in Slavonski Brod—undertook its first major project: the assembly of a bridge over the Tisa River near Titel. This project marked the foundation of a century-long tradition. Over the decades, the company has successfully delivered numerous complex projects in collaboration with leading international partners, particularly in Western European markets, while continuously strengthening its technical and organisational capabilities. In 2016, marking its 90th anniversary, the company returned to full Croatian ownership and continues to operate under the name Đuro Đaković Montaža d.o.o.
